Your trip begins with a regularly scheduled direct flight from Düsseldorf to Edinburgh with an internationally recognized airline.

Flight times: Düsseldorf (DUS) – Edinburgh (EDI) 11:05 – 11:50

Welcome to Scotland! Travel by private bus to the Old Town in Edinburgh for an included group lunch at a charming 16th-century tavern before heading to Glasgow. Upon arrival, dive into Glasgow’s dynamic spirit on a guided city tour with a local expert. Discover the city’s striking mix of grand Victorian architecture and bold modern design, while learning about its vibrant culture and industrial past. In the evening, settle into your 4-star hotel in central Glasgow (Sandman Signature Glasgow Hotel).

Day 2: Scottish Highlands & Loch Ness (Feb 14th)

Happy Valentine’s Day! After an included breakfast buffet, we’ll leave Glasgow behind for a full-day adventure into the stunning Scottish Highlands, led by an expert local guide. Our journey begins with a scenic drive through Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, then continues through the dramatic valley of Glen Coe and the sweeping landscapes of the Great Glen. From there, we’ll make our way to the legendary Loch Ness, where you can try your luck at spotting Nessie from the shore or on an optional boat cruise. Weather permitting, you might even catch a glimpse of Ben Nevis, the UK’s highest mountain. All the while, you’ll uncover stories from Scotland’s rich and wild history.

Day 3: Sightseeing tour of Edinburgh and travel day (Feb 15th)

After an included breakfast buffet, we’ll check-out and make our way to Edinburgh for a guided tour through the city’s timeless charm and medieval beauty, led by a local expert. Take in the contrasting elegance of the Georgian New Town and the historic Royal Mile—both UNESCO World Heritage sites. Pass landmarks like the King George statue, Bute House, and the towering Scott Monument. Then, catch breathtaking views of Edinburgh Castle, perched high on Castle Rock and home to the Scottish Crown Jewels and the legendary Stone of Scone. In the afternoon, enjoy free time to explore the city at your own pace—or join an optional excursion for even more discovery.

Guided Optional Excursion –  Guided Whisky Tour
Join a guided visit to the Scotch Whisky Experience for an optional excursion that’s perfect for whisky lovers and curious travelers alike. Hop on a whisky barrel ride through a replica distillery, see the world’s largest Scotch whisky collection, and enjoy a guided tasting session. You’ll even take home a souvenir crystal whisky glass. This immersive experience is designed for all ages—even if you don’t drink, you’ll gain a deeper appreciation for the heritage and craftsmanship behind Scotland’s national spirit.

After some free time for souvenirs and a chance to grab dinner at your leisure, transfer to the airport in Edinburgh for your return flight home.

Passport and Visa Requirements
Explore Europe enforces the requirement to possess a tourist passport for all trips outside of Germany. Should you come to the departure point and present the incorrect passport, you will be turned away with no refund, per our cancellation policy.

Important passport rules are as follows:
If you have a passport with a SOFA stamp on any page (a “No-Fee” passport), you are provided permission to reside in Germany, NOT to travel outside of Germany. You have to have a tourist passport in addition to the SOFA/”No-Fee” passport to travel outside of Germany. You cannot travel with a RED Official passport as that is used only for the purpose of a mission or deployment. If you have a passport with a detachable SOFA card clipped inside, it is acceptable to travel with as that was issued originally as a tourist passport. If you are not sure: a tourist passport will be BLUE and will be valid for 10 years for adults. It cannot contain a SOFA stamp on any page or it is not acceptable. A child’s tourist passport (under 15 years of age) is valid for 5 years, but will not have a SOFA stamp in it anywhere. All of this information has been verified to be correct with the Grafenwoehr Passport Office.

Baggage Allowance
· One check-in bag: max weight up to 12kg (22lb).
· One small personal carry-on item: max size 25cm H (10”) x 33cm W (13”) x 20cm D(8”).

Clothing & Packing
We recommend packing lightweight, loose-fitting clothing that can be easily layered. For sightseeing, we suggest bringing a sturdy pair of walking shoes or sneakers, as well as a lightweight jacket or rainwear. If you’re planning a visit to a high-end restaurant or performance, you may also want to bring dressier attire. Also, please be respectful and avoid showing bare legs or shoulders when visiting churches or other religious sites (entrance may be denied on this basis).

Health
There are no major health risks associated with traveling to Scotland. However, it’s always advisable to check with your doctor or healthcare provider for the latest updates.

Cuisine
Scottish cuisine is a flavorful blend of tradition and local ingredients, known for its hearty and comforting dishes. On your trip, you’ll have the chance to try iconic specialties like haggis, neeps and tatties (turnips and potatoes), fresh salmon, Scotch beef, and sweet treats like shortbread and cranachan. Whether dining in a cozy pub or a modern bistro, you’ll experience the rich culinary heritage that reflects Scotland’s land, history, and culture.

Transportation
Round-trip flights arrive in and depart from Edinburgh. Included transportation is by private motor coach in Scotland. Most of the destinations are easily walkable. The city is serviced by numerous buses.

Electricity
In Scotland, the standard electricity supply is 230 volts with a frequency of 50 Hz. Plugs are Type G, which have three rectangular prongs. We recommend packing a universal adapter, as well as a voltage converter if you plan on using your own hairdryer or other device without a built-in converter. Your hotel may provide hairdryers, irons and other small appliances. However, these amenities cannot be guaranteed.

Currency
The Pound Sterling is the currency you’ll be using on your trip. The Scottish currency is the British Pound (GBP) and all notes that say “Pound Sterling” are accepted. Both Scottish and English notes are widely used in Scotland. We strongly advise that you take debit/bank cards and credit cards, which can be used to withdraw cash at local banks as needed. You can use most debit/credit cards at ATMs on the international networks Cirrus and Plus, but make sure to check with your home bank about withdrawal fees. We suggest that you inform your bank and credit card company of your travel plans, so that they won’t confuse your international purchases for fraudulent charges.

Tipping
At the conclusion of your trip, it’s customary to offer your Trip Leader a gratuity. We recommend tipping €1-2 per person per day for your Trip Leader. Tips can only be paid in cash.

We recommend you get travel insurance to reimburse you for unforeseen trip cancellation. Please follow this link to get a quote through Travel Insured.
