Day 2: Italian Riviera & Monaco (Friday, July 3rd, 2026)

After an included breakfast buffet, spend the morning discovering the most important sights of San Remo on a 2-h walking tour with a professional tour guide. Italy’s own Monte Carlo, San Remo is a sun-dappled Mediterranean resort with a casino, a clutch of ostentatious villas, exotic gardens, beautiful seaside promenades and many shops and restaurants. Later in the afternoon, we’ll head out with our English speaking guide to explore the ‘must see’ Monaco & Monte Carlo – home to the rich and famous!

Day 3: Cannes and Antibes, French Riviera (Saturday, July 4th, 2026)

After an included breakfast buffet, we’ll meet our local expert and leave Italy for the French Riviera. Our first stop is Cannes – the jewel of the Riviera and home to the world-famous Cannes Film Festival. There, you’ll enjoy a guided walk followed by free time to explore at your own pace. Be sure to sample some of the region’s specialties, such as lavender honey, aioli (a garlic-infused mayonnaise), and refreshing local rosé wine. Next, we’ll follow the scenic coastal road to Antibes, where you’ll discover its charming old town and picturesque promenade.

Passport & Visa
A tourist passport is required for all trips outside of Germany.

Important passport rules are as follows:
If you have a passport with a SOFA stamp on any page (a “No-Fee” passport), you are provided permission to reside in Germany, NOT to travel outside of Germany. You have to have a tourist passport in addition to the SOFA/”No-Fee” passport to travel outside of Germany. You cannot travel with a RED Official passport as that is used only for the purpose of a mission or deployment. If you have a passport with a detachable SOFA card clipped inside, it is acceptable to travel with as that was issued originally as a tourist passport. If you are not sure: a tourist passport will be BLUE and will be valid for 10 years for adults. It cannot contain a SOFA stamp on any page or it is not acceptable. A child’s tourist passport (under 15 years of age) is valid for 5 years, but will not have a SOFA stamp in it anywhere. All of this information has been verified to be correct with the Grafenwoehr Passport Office.

Health
There are no major health risks at your destinations. It is always advisable to check with your doctor or health-care provider for the latest updates and overseas travel requirements. More information on vaccinations and other health precautions can be found via the CDC website (www.cdc.gov).

Transportation
Included transportation on this trip is by motor coach. Most of the destinations on tour are best explored on foot, although frequent local buses are also available. Purchase tickets at tobacconists or at vending machines, if needed.

Baggage Allowance
Each passenger is entitled to one luggage and one personal item. Luggage should be able to be stored below the bus and the personal item should contain whatever you might need on the bus. Pillows and blankets do not count for the personal item. If you have additional items such as strollers, carseats, etc. please send us a message to make those arrangements.

Clothing & Packing Tips

  • We recommend packing lightweight, loose-fitting clothing that can be easily layered to accommodate varying temperatures, as well as a light jacket or rainwear.
  • A sturdy pair of walking shoes or sneakers is recommended for sightseeing.
  • You may want to pack dressier attire if you plan to visit a high-end restaurant or attend a special performance.
  • It is preferable not to visit churches or other religious sites with bare legs and shoulders (and entrance may be denied on this basis).

Currency
The Euro is the currency you will be using on your trip. We strongly advise that you take a combination of bank/debit cards and credit cards. We suggest informing your bank and credit card company of your travel plans, so they don’t confuse your international purchases for fraudulent charges.

Cuisine
One of the most enjoyable aspects of traveling is the delightful variety of local cuisine. The Italian Riviera is known for its wine, oil, sauces, pasta and seafood. For authentic meals, try local trattorias, small restaurants often with only a couple of open tables and hand-printed menus. Italians tend to indulge in long, often boisterous meals featuring wines and the occasional beer, followed by the requisite after-dinner drinks of grappa or limoncello. In France, you’ll find endless opportunities to sample wonderful food at every price range. For the most casual snack or picnic, stop at a small grocery store for cheeses, patés, cured meats, fresh-baked bread and fruit. Sidewalk vendors are known for their steaming crepes, filled with cheese, ham, fruit or chocolate. Mouthwatering pastries and hot café au lait beckon from the cafes. On the restaurant scene, the prix fixe option is popular.

Tipping
At the conclusion of your trip, it’s customary to offer your Trip Leader a gratuity. We recommend tipping €1-2 per person per day for your Trip Leader. Tips can only be paid in cash.

We recommend you get travel insurance to reimburse you for unforeseen trip cancellation. Please follow this link to get a quote through Travel Insured.
